nt in the State of Texas with 570 hounds hunting the three nights of competition in Iola this year. That figure represents an increase of 12% as 69 more hounds hunted this year than last. The sponsors and promoters of the Lone Star 5000 Plus can be justifiably proud. Add the 207 hounds hunted on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the nearby Jewett Classic and the 2004 Texas coon-hunting extravaganza averages 155.4 hounds over five nights of competition. That’s outstanding!
