f Super Stakes finals competition. Kiddy, handling the now Gold Champion Wipeout Barbwire, outdistanced his competition by a mere 25 points to cinch the 2004 PKC Spring Junior Super Stakes Championship win tonight. The contest literally went down to the “wire” with Kiddy and the Walker female owned by Loyd Morris and Tim McKenzie of Anderson, South Carolina scoring 350 points. That compared to the pair of 325-point scores posted by Chad Beard with Dixie Chic and Keith Dyess with Southern Pride, both Walkers as well.
The cast elected, on the guide’s recommendation to call time out with eight minutes and eight seconds remaining. As time was called, Dyess and Pride were leading the cast with 200 plus. Beard and Kiddy each held 175 plus with the nod for second going to Kiddy with the most plus tree points. The cast was released with Chic taking first strike followed by Barbwire, then Pride. The Kiddy/Barbwire combination proved to be the quickest of the night with the duo having three first trees out of three. The last tree of the night saw Kiddy calling first, then Dyess and Beard in that order. Less than two minutes of the eight had expired with all dogs treed. Judge Tony Harper would plus the tree giving the lead and ultimately the contest and a check for $12,000 to Kiddy. The scores were 350 for Barbwire and 325 each for Chic and Pride. Chic took second on the tiebreaker rule, having more plus strike points than the Texas hound, Pride.
Wipeout Barbwire was sired by PKC’s second all-time money winning hound, PCH M/F/s Wipeout Zack (Moose) and is out of SCH Nichol’s Six Pak, a daughter of Ball’s Stylish Harry and Blair’s Tar Heel Jill. Interestingly, Moose also sired Cabo Wabo, a pup that finished third in the Senior Super Stakes final tonight as well.
