ne for the Friday events in Du Quoin. Huge crowds flooded the headquarters building and everyone seemed to be relishing that old Walker Days spirit.
By 6:00 PM the entry takers were working the cramps out of their fingers, the hunters clad in froglegs and hunting togs, and the guides were at the ready for night number two of 2002 Walker Days.
The Open Event drew a whopping entry of 231 hounds. When the Pup Derby entries were totalled, there were 124 youngsters to add to the tally. In all, 355 hounds left the fairgrounds for spots such as Salem, McLeansboro, Tilden, Harrisburg, and other locations in southern Illinois to vie for a coveted Final Four spot by the 3:00 AM deadline.
