Bruner's Gambler wins Beagle hunt!

Lynnville, IN - A three-year old beagle male, bred, trained, and handled by Earl Bruner of Waddy, Kentucky

has won the inaugural PKC "Small Pack" beagle trial held Saturday, May 4th in Lynnville, Indiana near Evansville. The Erie Canal Beagle Club served as the host club.

Shortly after dawn on a breezy but warm Saturday morning, 50 hounds had been entered for the first PKC hunt for gundog beagles in the "small pack" format. By sundown the entry had been reduced to a single hound, Bruner's Gambler.

The final cast, consisting of five semifinal round castg winners elected to hunt for the PKC money and the $1000 added purse. Gambler played his hand in a rapid-fire cast on reclaimed strip mine land where rabbits were as thick as the ticks on the chaps of the judges and handlers and came up the big winner.
