2020 PKC Senior Dog Showdown Is Here!

The sixty-four (64) member field for the 2020 PKC Senior Showdown has been confirmed.  The event is scheduled for January 31 through February 01 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi.  Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck from Earl Floyd Ford of Carrollton, Kentucky!  The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round on Friday night.  The four late round cast winners compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck!  In addition to the pickup truck that will be awarded on Saturday night, those members of the final cast not winning the truck will receive $2,000 to the reserve champion, $1,000 to third place, and $500 to fourth place.

Our field this year consists of thirty-six (36) males and twenty-eight (28) females. Those sixty-four (64) dogs represent two (2) Black & Tan females; one (1) Bluetick male; one (1) Cross Bred male; three (3) English males and one (1) female; one (1) Redbone female, and thirty-one (31) Walker males and twenty-four (24) females. Tennessee leads the field with eleven (11) qualifiers, followed by Indiana and Ohio with six (6) qualifiers each. Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina have five (5) qualifiers each. Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and South Carolina have three (3) qualifiers each. Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan and Texas each qualified two (2). Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, New York and Pennsylvania complete the field with one (1) qualifier each.

SCH Thunder River, an English Male with a birth date of 05/14/2009, owned by Andy Lichlyter of Rutledge, Tennessee is the elder statesman of the qualifiers at the tender age of ten years and 8 months old, followed by PCH Trespassing Polo, a Walker Male, born 02/01/2011. Polo is owned by Eddie Huntley Or Jonathan Medlin of Morven, North Carolina. Our youngest qualifiers are SCH Muscleman’s Little Snook, owned by David Brott of Muskegon, Michigan, With a birth date of 09/12/2015. Snook is three (3) days younger than PCH Wackstar, owned by Jay Miller Or Tyler Steury Or Thomas Compton of Middlebury, Indiana with a birth date of 09/09/2015. Completing the field are an additional five (5) born in 2011; twelve (12) born in 2012; twelve (12) born in 2013; twenty-three (23) born in 2014, and eight (8) born in 2015.

ALL COMPETITORS, JUDGES, GUIDES, GUESTS, SUPPORT PERSONNEL, AND PKC STAFF MEMBERS. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, ARE ANY VEHICLES TO BE PARKED AT THE MAIN ENTRANE TO THE CASINO FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME; NO EXCEPTIONS! THE ISLE OF CAPRI CASINO STAFF HAS MADE THIS A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT, AND WE WILL BE REQUIRED TO ABIDE BY THEIR POLICY!

All qualifiers will receive a cap and jacket commemorating their qualification for the event, compliments of PKC, and are asked to please wear the jacket for picture taking!  Drawing for first round casts, and pictures of all qualifiers will be taken between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM Central Time at a site designated by the casino, and all participants are being asked to please be early or on time.  Any qualifier not on site between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM Central Time on Friday will be omitted from the 2020 Senior Showdown website coverage and in PROHOUND magazine.

Once you have confirmed your entry, received your jacket, and had your picture taken, please check in to your room and make sure that your truck, dog and equipment are prepared to leave to go hunting.

Beginning at 4:00 PM, all participants and their guests will be treated to a brunch consisting of various finger foods, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino.  Calling of casts will follow the brunch.  Some casts will be traveling a good distance to satellites and MUST be ready to leave ASAP.  We hope to bring you the complete matchups soon after draw-out is completed!

Cast winners from the early round on Friday night will recast late to determine the Final Four spots for Saturday night and a one in four chance at a new pickup truck and the other cash awards!!!!!

Each member of the final cast will be interviewed on Saturday afternoon by Amy Thomas for articles to be published in PROHOUND. Each late round cast winner on Friday night will be assigned an interview time for Saturday afternoon after returning to the casino from late round casts.

SATURDAY'S FINAL CAST WILL BE FILMED LIVE BY ASHLEY GUTHRIE AND BACKWOODS HERITAGE PRODUCTIONS.
