Nut is the Pro Hunt Winner and survivor of the TN Blue Ribbon Event held this weekend, in extremely cold weather for this part of the country. Nut is owned by Heath Johnson and was handled by Doug Heavener Friday night and Steve Yant Saturday. Congratulations to the weekends winners who braved the elements and those who willingly helped by judging, guiding, and hosting the event.

The final night of the 22nd Annual PKC Lone Star 5,000+ remained cold. We drew 35 hunters in the Open Event in addition to the 16 dogs in the $1,000 Pro Showcase. My hat is off to the judges, guides and everyone else who makes these awesome January hunts in Texas possible each year. The Open Event Final chose to split and head on home.

The cold weather hit us hard again for the second night of the 22nd Annual PKC Lone Star 5,000+. The temperature remained in the lower twenty's with the wind-chill in the lower teen's. That's not unusual when I'm at home, but it's sure not good for this part of Texas, as can be witnessed by the scores. The hard hunters and the diehards still showed up and we hunted a respectable 64 dogs tonight. Several nice homemade cakes were auctioned off to help out the local FFA Kids and we certainly appreciated the buyers and Travis Tate's auctioneering skills. The Open Event Final chose to hunt it off, while the Pup Finalists opted to split and find someplace warm to curl up.
