2017 PKC Pup Shoot Out - This Week!

The sixty-four member field for the 2017 PKC Pup Shoot-Out has been confirmed. The event is scheduled for Friday, March 3rd and Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi. Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, SportDOG, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck! The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round on Friday night. The four late round cast winners from Friday night compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck! For one hound and handler, the dividend for the month of hard running to get qualified, will be a huge one. The other three finalists will be paid $2,000 for 2nd, $1,000 for 3rd and $500 for 4th. Each handler will be playing the 1 in 64 odds at the casino of taking home this new truck. 
Our field this year consists of 38 Males and 26 Females. Those 64 dogs represent two (2) Black & Tan Males and one (1) Female; one (1) Bluetick Female; One (1) Cross-Bred Male and One (1) Female; three (3) English Males and two (2) Females; one (1) Redbone Male; and thirty-one (31) Walker Males and twenty-one (21) females.
Georgia leads the field with fourteen (14) qualifiers, followed Tennessee with eight (8) qualifiers. Indiana has seven (7) qualifiers, followed closely Kentucky with six (6) qualifiers and Alabama with five (5) qualifiers. Illinois and North Carolina each have four (4) qualifiers, followed by Missouri and Mississippi with three (3) qualifiers each. Arkansas, Iowa, Ohio, and South Carolina each have two (2) qualifiers. Kansas and Michigan complete the field with one (1) qualifier each.
The field consists of one (1) Platinum Champion World Champion, three (3) Platinum Champions, two (2) Gold Champions, eighteen (18) Silver Champions, and forty (40) Champions.
The dogs qualified to compete in the 2016 PKC Pup Shoot-Out are sired by forty-nine (49) different Super Stakes Sires! Wipeout Zeb 3 leads the number of qualified pups with six (6). Backwater Bone Collector, Mr. Moe, My Only Reezon, and Hardtime Awesome each have three (3) pups qualified; Parsley’s Wipeout Jake and Co. Line Midnight Thunder each have two (2) pups qualified. All participants are asked to be on site between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Friday, March 3rd for pictures. At this time, handlers will draw for their first round cast, as well as, receive a cap and jacket commemorating the event, compliments of Nestle-Purina, SportDOG and PKC. Any qualifier not on site between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PMCentral Time on Friday, February 3rd will be omitted from the 2017 Senior Showdown coverage in PROHOUND.
Beginning at 4:00 PM, all participants and their guests will be treated to a brunch consisting of various finger foods and soft drinks, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino.
Calling of casts will follow the brunch, and we hope to bring you the complete matchups soon after draw-out is completed!
Cast winners from the early round on Friday night will recast late to determine the Final Four spots for Saturday night and a one in four chance at a new pickup truck and the other cash awards!!!!!
Each member of the final cast will be interviewed on Saturday afternoon by Amy Thomas for articles to be published in PROHOUND. Each late round cast winner on Friday night will be assigned an interview time for Saturday afternoon after returning to the casino.
