The 2015 PKC Senior Dog Showdown Is Upon Us!

Evansville, IN –
Wednesday January 28, 2015

The sixty-four (64) member field for the 2015 PKC Seniors’ Showdown has been confirmed. The event is scheduled for February 6 & 7, 2015 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi. Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, SportDOG, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new pickup truck from Lynn Layton Chevrolet of Decatur, Alabama! The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round on Friday night. The four late round cast winners compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck! In addition to the pickup truck that will be awarded on Saturday night, those members of the final cast not winning the truck will receive $2,000 to the runner-up, $1,000 to third place, and $500 to fourth place.

Our field this year consists of thirty-seven (37) males and twenty-seven (27) females. Those sixty-four (64) dogs represent one (1) Black & Tan male and one (1) female; one (1) Crossbred male; three (3) English males and one (1) female; one (1) Redbone male; and thirty-one (30) Treeing Walker males and twenty-six (26) females.

Tennessee leads the field with eleven (11) qualifiers, followed by Georgia and Virginia with seven (7) qualifiers. Indiana and Ohio, each with five (5) qualifiers. Arkansas has three (3) qualifiers, as do Missouri, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina and West Virginia qualified two (2) each, and Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas round out the field with one (1) qualifier each.

Fifty X Tiny, a Walker Female with a birth date of 04/20/2005, owned by Don Pearson of Bee Branch, Arkansas, is the oldest of the qualifiers at the tender age of nine years and 9 months old, followed by Machine Gun Casey, owned by Ethridge or Burgamy or Deloach of Saluda, SC with a birth date of 06/23/2005. Our youngest qualifiers are Lockdown Daisy, owned by Chuck Cliver of Linton, Indiana, with a birth date of 09/04/2010, and Charlie Brown, owned by Bobby Lowe of Woodlawn, Virginia with a birth date of 08/08/2010; twenty-seven (27) days older than Lockdown Daisy. Rounding out the field are an additional nine (9) 2010 models; fourteen (14) 2009 models; twenty-two (22) 2008 models; thirteen (13) 2007 models; one (1) 2006 models; and one (1) 2005 model.

ALL COMPETITORS, GUESTS, SUPPORT PERSONNEL, AND PKC STAFF MEMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PARK IN THE DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, ARE ANY VEHICLES TO BE PARKED AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE TO THE CASINO FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME; NO EXCEPTIONS! THE ISLE OF CAPRI CASINO STAFF HAS MADE THIS A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT, AND WE WILL BE REQUIRED TO ABIDE BY THEIR POLICY!

All qualifiers will receive a cap and jacket commemorating their qualification for the event, compliments of Purina, SportDOG and PKC, and are asked to please wear the jacket for picture taking! Drawing for first round casts, and pictures of all qualifiers will be taken between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM at a site designated by the casino, and all participants are being asked to please be on time or early for picture taking. Any qualifier not on site between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM on Friday will be omitted from the 2015 Senior Showdown event coverage.

Beginning at 4:00 PM, all participants and their guests will be treated to a light luncheon consisting of various finger foods, compliments of the Isle of Capri Casino. Announcements and calling of casts will immediately follow, and we hope to provide all interested parties the complete matchups soon after the casts are headed to the woods!Cast winners from the early round on Friday night will recast late to determine the Final Four spots for Saturday night and a one in four chance at a new pickup truck and the other cash awards!

Each member of the final cast will be interviewed on Saturday afternoon by Amy Thomas for articles to be published in PROHOUND. Each late round cast winner on Friday night will be assigned an interview time for Saturday afternoon after returning to the casino from late round casts.
