The Pups are about to have a Shoot-Out in Lula, MS!

Evansville, IN – The sixty-four member field for the 2013 PKC Pup Shoot-Out has been confirmed. The event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 1st and 2nd, 2013 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Mississippi. Co-sponsored by PKC, Purina, SportDOG, and the Isle of Capri Casino, the winner drives home in a brand new 4x4 Extended Cab Chevy pickup truck from Mitch Smith Chevrolet!

The event is a single elimination event, conducted under Pro Rules with non-hunting judges, with early round cast winners advancing to the late round from Friday night. The four late round cast winners from Friday night compete on Saturday night for the keys to the brand spanking new pickup truck! For one hound and handler, the dividend for the month of hard running to get qualified, will be a huge one. The other three finalists will be paid $2000 for 2nd, $1000 for 3rd and $500 for 4th. Each handler will be playing the 1 in 64 odds, at the casino, of taking home a new truck.

Our field this year consists of 35 Males and 29 Females. Those 64 dogs represent Four Black and Tan Males and one Female, one Cross-Bred Female, one Redbone Male, along with 31 Walker Males and 26 Females.

There are twenty-two states represented by the sixty-four qualifiers. Tennessee leads the field with eleven qualifiers, followed by Georgia, and Ohio with six qualifiers each. Missouri follows closely with five qualifiers. Alabama, and North Carolina had four qualifiers apiece. Indiana, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania qualifiers number three each. There were six states Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, along with South Carolina having two qualifiers each. The following six states round out the field with one representative from each, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

The field includes thirty-three Champions, twenty-five Silver Champions, three Gold Champions, and three Platinum Champions that have qualified for this event.

The oldest competitor in the field is PCH Smirnoff Ice owned by Nickey Hale having just won the Senior Showdown one month ago. The youngest in the field is CH Trip's Hardcore Sissy at just twenty-seven months old owned by Coselman/Burkholder and followed closely by SCH Triple Lockdown owned by Tidwell or Moody just twenty-one days older. Included in the field also is, last year’s Pup Shoot-out winner, PCH Hissy Phit.

All participants are asked to be on site between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Friday, March 1st for pictures. At this time, handlers will draw for their first round cast, as well as, receive a cap and jacket commemorating the event, compliments of Nestle-Purina and PKC.

Following the picture taking, beginning at 4:00 PM, all handlers will be guests of the Isle of Capri Casino for a reception consisting of various finger foods and drinks, non-alcoholic of course. Following the reception, casts will depart the casino for the first round of competition.
