After 12 years of owning PKC Rita and I are pleased and very proud to announce to all of you that we are p assing the torch to Roger Dale Carnegie. We can’t think of anyone we would rather see assume the roles we have played for so many years than Roger. I doubt that there is anyone who loves PKC any more than Roger Dale and I feel certain that the majority of you know first hand that this is true from your involvement with him. Roger Dale and I were friends long before I purchased PKC, but after purchasing PKC and hiring Roger Dale, we have not only established a good working relationship, but have also developed a true friendship that can and will stand the test of time, regardless of the business decisions. We have disagreed on issues in the past, and will continue to disagree on other issues in the future; but regardless of our disagreements, we have managed to maintain our close friendship, and I see no chance of that changing with the transfer of ownership.

Although we have not finalized our deal Roger will assume control of the company effective January 1, 2009. The obligations and time restraints that both Rita and I are faced with inside our trucking company have finally made it impossible for us to continue as we have been doing. A lot of you own your business and are fully aware of the dedication of time required to operate successfully, and the status of the economy today makes it even more difficult than in the past. Having been aware of that for sometime has not made either of our lives any easier. I can say without question that had it not been for a great staff around us it would not have been possible for us to have gone this long without making a similar decision. I don’t want anyone to think that the decision has been easy for anyone. I know it hasn’t been easy for Roger Dale and I would have been leery if it would have been. It is a full time job keeping up with the day-to-day operations of PKC, not to mention the risk and accountability associated with the ownership. Likewise, it hasn’t been easy for Rita or me because we truly care about PKC and all the great friends we have made through the company. I have had several offers from folks outside our organization to purchase the company but that was never an option for me. I needed to be assured that the company, the staff, and the customers would all come ahead of any financial decisions. With Roger Dale I have total confidence that will be exactly the case. I have no plans to go anywhere anytime soon. As a matter of fact Roger Dale has made it a part of our package that I MUST stay involved for quite some time and that is better than just O.K. with me. I plan to attend as many events as I can and hopefully I can get a chance to visit with you much more than time has allowed me to of late. I have agreed to assist Roger Dale with any of the business aspects of the company and I have no doubt that he and I will be talking every bit as much as we are today. The biggest (and more than just likely the only) change in what is happening each and every day at PKC is that I won’t be making the final decisions as I have until now. I have and I hope all of you will have complete confidence in Roger’s ability to do that with the help of you and a great staff around him.
Besides, there will still be an old, bearded trucker around coaching from the bench right next to him.

I sincerely hope that all of you will join me in congratulating Roger Dale as the new owner and I pray that you will be as supportive of him as you have been to Rita and me.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON.

Note from Roger Dale:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Larry and Rita for this great opportunity, as well as, the vote of confidence both have shown in me. I pledge to do my best to continue the prosperity of this organization and its’ membership. With the recent implementation of our new programs and the continuation of our existing programs, I see a bright future for PKC.

I know first hand the struggle that Larry and Rita have endured with making the decision to sell PKC, and can not find the proper words to express my appreciation for the confidence they have shown in me. When Larry and I began discussing the possibility of me owning PKC, my first request was that he would remain as an advisor. I truly respect his ability to make business decisions and common sense judgment calls, and had no desire to take this venture without his help, knowledge, and support. I’m proud to say that he has graciously agreed to help in any way he can. In other word, Ol’ Buck ain’t going away……………

As we move forward, please rest assured that the entire PKC Staff and I will do our very best to insure the continued success of this great organization.
