If it will not interfere with the cast, the handler may immediately go get his dog. If it will interfere with the cast, the handler waits until it doesn't.
Prepare yourself and your hound. Hunt the dog, read the Blue Book, and your Good Book!

Richard C Lambert wrote:The stationary rule is just a rule that slick handlers use to get someone to tree their dog so that they can minus him. They know that your dog is not treed but they still put the stationary on him. Wording should be changed to state that a dog must actually be treed. Why do you have to tree your dog when you know that he is not treed?
You know there more I think about this rule - seems to me like 99% of the time either the dog is only half a** treed (in which case a good handler would never tree him if not forced to) or the dog does not need that tree to win - or both lol
Yall help me think more about this - but I'm thinking eliminate it totally and leave it totally up to his handler weather he wants to tree him or not.
We all have been in that position where we know our dog is not treed right - prob is going to move on at some point - but have been forced by this rule to tree them - IMO that should totally be up to the handler................. bet Nickey Hale agrees!!

forcing a handler to tree his dog on a tree where the handler knows it's not right - and then that dog getting minused just seems like the wrong way for another dog to win the cast....................

A dog should'nt be there if it is not right. Since when is it not right to minus a dog for screwing up

Under the current rule, there is no need to go and look at the dog before scratching it. The rule does not require the dog to be seen treeing, only stationary (barking in one spot, not moving).
Do you see the problem with that? It doesn't require a dog to be treed but it does require me to tree him?

Re: Stationary Rule Reminder
So, you can have a dog that is scratched and is no longer a part of the cast, out there running around trailing and treeing and doing whatever. That sure doesn't make sense. If it is a 3 dog cast and you scratch one that handler can't go handle his dog until time out is called or the cast is over. Are you scratching the dog for being treed and his handler not calling him treed or for just barking in the same spot too long?

Kinda related to what you are saying Mr. Richard is the "my dog is in danger, withdraw him and I'm going to get him" issue. Apparently, I am told by the powers at be that you can not do that unless the whole cast agrees........... I can tell you if thats me - I am going to get my dog!!

You guy will conflict and argue over anything. Don't like the current rules vote to change them or by all means stay home.

Re: Stationary Rule Reminder
III always thought the intent of the rule was to keep a handler whos dog was obviously locked down treed from standing there holding cast up by not treeing. If a dog is boogering around, hung up, halfway treeing I didnt think the rule was to be Applied, because of the language obviously treed.

You are correct Dean.
14.G. Stationary Rule - Any dog continually barking in the same place for a period of six (6) minutes will be scratched, unless called treed. This rule is to apply to a dog obviously barking treed.
