2014 PKC Pup Shoot-Out Final Play By Play

Everyone doing their best smile for the camera and doing their duty for the magazine people and we are about ready to line up for the woods; Judge is Tommy McQueen and back-up Judge is Brad Durham. The in-the-woods panel is John Granberry, James Love and Bud Hood. Reporter is Brandon Toney who is probably the only one on the cast that can send a text without running to a tree. Guide is Wesley Willard who has guided every final cast for a truck hunt for years. They will be hunting on a private hunting club on the Mississippi River that has been known for years to produce a lot of game.

We expect to cast the hounds around 7:00 pm CST.

Hunter Struck 100

Dixie struck 75

Chick 50

Abby struck 25

Hunter treed 100

Abby Treed for 25

Easing toward the tree

Tree dead, cast going to look

Bone request to shine only with a dim light.

Hunter handled alone, Abby is moved up to 100 and tree about 100 years further.

Did not take long to to score Hunter, minus both ways.

Minute up and Hunter cut, on the way to Abby.

Two minute rule bit Abby, she has 100 minus.

Walking back to where we last heard Chick and Dixie

Hunter struck back in for 25

Chick is through the country a ways, we are splitting the distance.

Hunter treed again for 100, Abby for 75.

The Dixie treed for 50.

Cast easing their way toward the tree.

Tree dead, cast on the way.

Dogs are handled, they are treed on the bank of the Mighty, Muddy, Mississippi river.

Could not find Brer coon, but it was a likely looking tree so we circle all three dogs and are walking back to the last place we heard Chick.

In hearing and the three hounds are cast. Hunter struck for 25, Dixie struck for 25, Chick is working on a fifty strike.

Abby is treed for 100 Dixie is treed for 75, Bone says you cannot pay him enough to call treed.

Time a-running.

Scores at one hour is:

Hunter has 200- byut does have circle tree points

Chick is working on her original 50 strike

Dixie had 125 circle points and no minus

Abby has 100- and 100 circle points.

Scoring tree.

When the cast arrived the were treed in a den tree and a dead possum was found. Judge circled the three dogs and cast is leading toward where they last hear the Chick.

Chick is treed way thru the country, the other three handlers are going to practice leading hounds for a while.

Chick is treed a long ways through the country, Judge Tommy along with Granberrry and Brad are going to the tree to score it and they will then call time out and meet them at the road.

It seems that my reporter took the easy way to the truck, Bone has offered him a nice cold drink. It may be a little while before we know how tree was scored.

Roughly 40 minutes left in the cast and it will still take a while to get to the tree, score it and get back to the truck. Head judge and others will be a little weary of foot when they get back.

Just checked with my trusty reporter and he says the dog is still treeing every breath, and they have not heard from anyone. Less than 30 minutes left.

Hunt is over and cast is scoring tree..

PLUS THE CHICK UP FOR 150+. A NEW TRUCK WINNER! ONE OF THE JUDGES REPORTED THAT TRACY IS SHAKING ALL OVER AND CHEEKS ARE VERY MOIST.
Prepare yourself and your hound. Hunt the dog, read the Blue Book, and your Good Book!
