- 2013/2014 PKC Black Gold Pro-Am Series Updates -

Postby Jerry Moll » Thu May 30, 2013 9:13 am

For whatever reason, the PKC Black Gold Pro-Am Series and the associated annual Championship have not garnered the support, participation and enthusiasm that we all had expected. When you study the chart of awards for these unique hunts, it is simply amazing what the clubs and hunters take home at the end of the night. But, many members remain very focused on Open Events and are chasing Truck Tickets, as well as the National, State and Breed Races. Other hunters commit themselves almost entirely to Pro Showcase and the annual Blue Ribbon Pro Race and do not look far outside of that arena. Some believe that we may simply have too much going on for the average member to cover all the bases. In the final analysis, it is probably a combination of many things, not the least of which is the stagnated US economy.

Looking ahead, there will be some needed changes for the upcoming 2014 competition season. Clubs may continue to schedule $75, $100 and $200 Pro-Am events just as they have in the past. The 2014 PKC Pro-Am Championship will be the last one held and the payout will be based entirely upon the entry fees minus expenses, as there will be no added purse funds available. Beginning with the 2014 PKC season, the Pro-Am standings will continue to be maintained only for National Championship qualification via a top twelve finish with $500 or more earned. Escrow monies from 2014 and future Pro-Am events will be credited to the respective state escrow accounts.

We certainly appreciate the generous support from John Allen and the Black Gold Staff, as well as, the PKC Members who have faithfully followed the Black Gold Pro-Am Series.
