"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (NIV) ( Proverbs 9:10 )

Does anyone ever try to learn bad judgment? No, they would be foolish to do so! Everyone wants to be considered wise and perceptive. This scripture is telling us that we can be blessed with more wisdom. It starts by fearing the Lord and seeking to know more about God.

Jesus came back to life three days after dying on the cross. He came back and spent time with the disciples. Before He finally ascended to heaven He imparted on us the gift of the Holy Spirit, given to guide and direct us. Jesus certainly gives new meaning to a breath of fresh air! Lord, breathe on us.

Are you living your dream? We all had aspirations of becoming something at some point. Some of us are living it, some of us are working at it, but many of us stopped believing. After experiencing the reality of hurdles and failures, we started to think harshly about our limitations. However, we must remember that with God’s mighty power within us, we are able to do much more than we could alone.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (NIV) ( Galatians 6:9 )

Some days are simply overwhelming and cause us to want to give up. God desires us to be persistent in our good work. Maybe you’re trying to mend a broken relationship with a family member and some days are very tough. Sometimes work can be hectic and unforgiving. And sometimes it’s a dream of yours to work on something that you’re passionate about and gifted in. There are peaks and valleys for all of these journeys, but remember to be strong, hopeful, and believe in your heavenly father.

If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. (NLT) ( Galatians 6:3 )

Do not read this passage and think our heavenly father does not see us as important, because he does. Instead, it points out that we are capable of fooling our own selves. Be careful not to deceive yourself by thinking that you are too important to help others. This passage should make us think: what else are we fooling ourselves about?

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (NIV) ( 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 )

Do you find that you keep running into your failures or weaknesses? When you are faced with the reality of your own weaknesses, it's humbling and cathartic. Change your attitude towards weakness and see it as an opportunity to look towards God to meet your needs. Ask God to step in where you falter. He is sufficient.

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (NIV) ( Matthew 5:48 )

We all know that we are far from perfect. Perfection doesn't have to be the end goal, but rather a path in the right direction. Are you heading in the right direction? Perfection might be to love someone who has harmed you in the past. That may be a difficult and seemingly impossible thing to do, but have you thought about simply sending them a pleasant card or gift? The important point is to strive to be more God-like by moving in the right direction.

When you find yourself in sticky situations, it's important to arm yourself with God's word. The way it translates into real life is through memorizing scripture. You will find that the word of God comes to mind when you need it most. Go ahead and prepare yourself by choosing a verse each week to tuck into your heart.

Giving your life to God can be a hard decision to make. We may resist because we think we are giving away everything, including free will. Instead, we gain everything. It's about trusting that God has our best interests in mind, and knowing that He is better at leading us than we could ever be. After all, God has a greater perspective and sees the bigger picture.

They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. (NIV) ( Ephesians 4:18 )

Our heart becomes hardened when we choose to ignore that inner feeling inside which nudges us to do or say something. When this feeling is ignored too many times the heart becomes insensitive to conviction and it becomes hardened. It's important to realize the impact of our actions or inactions. Have you declined your compassion to others with a hard heart?

The greatest of these may be love, but don't underestimate the power of hope. When we are in our deepest depths of despair, it is hope that keeps us going when it's hard to get out of bed. Have you lost sight of our hope? Our hope is everlasting. Our hope is full of grace. Our hope is in Christ Jesus.

The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, (NIV) ( Nahum 1:7 )

Our God provides us with a shelter to protect us from life’s troubles. The question is whether we accept his protection. When you run into a wall or trip over hurdles, it’s easy to feel defeated. If you travel through life with God, He will most definitely give you strength to overcome them and peace to enjoy it. Have you talked to God lately about the troubles you are facing?

Do you ever go through days that seem like something is missing? We work so hard to accomplish goals in our life so that we can provide a better life for ourselves and our families. But this can also focus our attention on the "things" we have and more importantly don't have. Where we direct our focus can lead us to that feeling of void. Instead of focusing on ourselves, direct your focus on someone in need. You may not see the immediate impact on your goals but in some way and at some time, God will honor your actions.

Answer me, O LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me. (NIV) ( Psalm 69:16 )

Does the Lord answer your prayers? Yes. Although, it may not always be "yes". The answer could be "no". Or it could be a simple "not now". Be encouraged to know God's love for you is so deep He will always be there to take care of you. If times get tough and too hard to bear, get down on your knees and share with Him. He will meet you there as you are.

Whew, that's quite a challenge! When someone else makes judgments about ourselves, we fight it. Yet, we judge each other daily in all matters of life and make comparisons to see how we measure up. We, however, are not the perfect judge and in making our own judgments we overstep God's authority. What are some things you can do to stop yourself from judging others?
