Youth Age Group Change [For Youth Only] Added Purse Events

Postby Chris Freiberger » Thu Aug 09, 2018 11:58 pm

The PKC Youth Committee has recommended and gotten approval for a change to our current Youth Hunt & Youth World Qualifying Hunt Policies. I’d like to thank PKC and the PKC Executive Committee for looking at this and getting it passed.

Previously, the Youth were Divided into two groups; Teen (Ages 13 -17) & Pre-Teen (Ages 12 & Under) and there could not be extra casts created So if there was an odd number of youth, either some Pre-Teens had to hunt in the Teen Group, or some Teens had to hunt in the Pre-Teen Group.

The new policy now allows for two separate hunts for Teen & Pre-Teen groups and the host club would have the option of creating one single Final Four with or without Added Purse that both Youth Hunts would be competing for. This new policy prevents Teens and Pre-Teen hunting together in the same cast.

This change does not affect Youth Casts in Open Events, State Youth Championships, or the Annual PKC Youth World Championship.

See newly updated Blue Book language below:

PKC YOUTH ONLY EVENTS (Blue Book Page #30)
Clubs may schedule "Youth Only" events as stand-alone events or in conjunction with other Open Events. PKC Youth Events will be conducted under Open Event Rules and the entry fee will be determined by the host club. Youth hunters may be separated into the two (2) hunts, one for each age group. These two separate Youth Hunts may compete for the same Final Four and/or Added Purse if advertised as such. This option is not available for Youth Casts in Open Events, State Youth Championships, or the Annual PKC Youth World Championship. Clubs must provide qualified non-hunting judges if needed and sufficient hunting and non-hunting guides.

YOUTH QUALIFYING EVENTS (Blue Book Page #30
)
Clubs may schedule a Youth Qualifying Event limited to youth handlers. Entry fee will be determined by the host club, with awards being paid as in any Open Event. The winner of any Youth Qualifying Event will become eligible to compete in the Youth World Championship the following competition season.
