- 11.A. Babbling Dogs And Strike Points (Rule Update) -
There has been some confusion concerning the strike point positions of dogs minused for babbling. Many members believe that after a dog is minused for babbling, that those strike points (strike position) should then become available for other dogs. The PKC Executive Committee recently looked at this rule and agreed that dogs minused for babbling should be treated just as dogs minused on a miscall by their handler, as shown in rule #11.C.
Effective 12/01/2018, after dog(s) receive minus strike points for babbling, their strike points (positions), will then become available to other dogs. Any dogs that were struck after the babbler should then be moved up accordingly. As always, when the minused dogs strike back in, they will receive a maximum of 25 points, unless all dogs are competing for 100 strike points. The new language, now included in rule 11. A. is shown below, underlined.
11. A. Babbling - Dog(s) to receive minus strike points when determined to be babbling. Strike points (positions) minused for babbling, will then be available to all handlers. When a minused dog strikes back in, it will receive a maximum of 25 points, unless all dogs are competing for 100 strike points. Dog(s) continually barking after being released and struck where no track is evident may be considered babbling. Dog(s) declared struck within the first minute after being released must show that it is taking a track out of the area and not false barking.

So you’re tell me that these dogs that leave barking and are just barking. That I can minus them? Then ask them for a call on their dog and minus them again?

This is the only part of rule #11.A. that has changed. Just this one sentence. The rest of the rule remains as it has been.
Strike points (positions) minused for babbling, will then be available to all handlers.

It’s there already. Minus them if no track evident. Judgement call
All it takes is balls to do it. I have seen it done. I am going to start doing it.

Define wherevtrack isnt evident? I cant smell. This is such a hox. So what happens when u think a dog is babbling u minus it then few mins later it trees. I get that having a dog that barks every breathe is annoying and people hate it but how do u minusvthem if they dont shut up. Judgement call? Well hell than any dog ever struck under the minute just minus them right off the bat cause track to me isnt evident. This is one of the biggest gray area there is because u try pulling it on someone u better nevervtry to strike under the minute ever cause ull get it in return.

Re: - 11.A. Babbling Dogs And Strike Points (Rule Update) -
I saw on another post that a dog was struck for 100 under the minute, trailed for 2 hrs and was never minused for babbling. How long after a dog is struck do you have to decide if they are babbling? If they haven't treed 30 minutes later and it is obvious that they are either just running around barking or trailing the other dogs, can you still minus them? Or if it has been an hour and they have gone 1 mile and still haven't made a tree, can you still minus them?

Re: - 11.A. Babbling Dogs And Strike Points (Rule Update) -
Why doesn't PKC post a list of "Dogs minused for babbling more than 2 times"? Then everyone would know who the babbling dogs were. That would put a stop to the problem. (If there is a problem) It seems to me that this would be an easy fix. If you had a babbler, then everyone would know and you would have to stop them or get minused every time you hunted them. It worked with mean dogs. :p
