Youth Casts In Open Events - Reminder

Postby Jerry Moll » Wed Mar 23, 2016 9:13 am

YOUTH CASTS IN OPEN EVENTS, page #43 Blue Book.

Youth Casts are not available at weeknight Open Events with an entry fee of $30 or less. Youth Handlers may compete in these events but must be drawn to casts randomly just as any other handler. Be sure to note "Youth Handler" on the entry slip, Hunt Report and Earnings Receipt. It is the youth handler's responsibility to enter events in the proper category based upon their current age.

Clubs are permitted to offer "Youth Casts" at any Weekend Open Event or Major Weeknight (Monday-Thursday) Open Event hunt held in conjunction with a Major Event. To be considered as being held in conjunction with a Major Event will require an Added Purse of $500 or more.

Also, provided the following requirements are met:
1. A minimum of four (4) Youth Hunters must enter the Open Event, and entries must be received in equal increments of four (4).
2. Youth Hunters may be separated by the two (2) age groups, but additional casts may not be created.
3. Club must furnish adult supervision for each youth cast that may judge if needed. This adult must be a current PKC member in good standing. The adult's name and PKC number must be listed on the scorecard and they must sign the scorecard assuring the validity of the cast.
4. If Non-Hunting Judges are used on Youth Casts, they will be provided by the club and must be qualified to judge. No parent or legal guardian of a Youth Handler may judge that youth in a PKC Youth Cast. No full or part owner of a dog being handled by a Youth Handler may judge that youth or dog in a PKC Youth Cast. Non-Hunting Youth Judges will conduct their casts in accordance with Rule 1-F of the PKC Open Event Rules.
5. Separate drawing of Youth Casts can not cause any additional casts.
Prepare yourself and your hound. Hunt the dog, read the Blue Book, and your Good Book!
