Guidelines for Scoring Tie Votes Under Open Event Rules

Postby Jerry Moll » Tue Oct 05, 2010 11:27 am

There is some confusion about when it is appropriate to delete strike and or tree points based upon the cast vote. Here are a few guidelines that summarize the rules listed below.

A two to two vote in any open event scoring situation other than scoring of a tree (plus, minus or circle) will be scored as the judge originally scored it. In this case of a two to two vote (no majority) the question may be brought to a panel without the $25 question fee.

Never delete a two to two cast vote except in a two circle/two minus situation on the scoring of a tree.

Scoring Trees; Plus, Minus, Circle or Delete. When scoring a tree in an open event, it always takes the majority of the cast to score it plus or minus.
•With the majority of the cast members voting to plus a tree, plus both strike and tree points.
•With the majority of the cast members voting to minus a tree, minus both strike and tree points.
•In a four dog cast with two cast members voting to plus and two cast members voting to minus OR circle, circle both strike and tree points.
•In a four dog cast with two cast members voting to circle and two cast members voting to minus, delete both strike and tree points.
