Good Lord willing this will be our 9th year for our Youth Fun Day and PKC youth hunt at the Fairgrounds in Wiggins, MS. Please mark your calendar now and make plans to join us on March 5th
We are so blessed to have so many wonderful sponsors and be able to provide this full day and night free for all youth. The Youth Fun Day will be filled with great food, fun and activities for youth of all ages. Saturday night, March 5th will be the PKC Mississippi State Youth Championship and all entry fees will be covered at no cost to the youth.
Sign up for the Youth Fun Day begins at 9:00 am with events starting at 10:00 am. We plan on taking a group picture first thing so make sure you are there.
Each event has some great prizes:
• The squalling contest: each participant will receive a new squaller; kiddy group (6 and under) will receive certificates and a gift bag; 7–12-year-old and 13–17-year-old winners will each earn a $25 gift certificate, coon squaller, leash, and t-shirt with event logo.
• The bench shows contest: the kiddy (6 and under) group will earn a certificate and a gift bag; the best male and female in show will each receive a new show folding bench, championship jacket, a dog leash, and t-shirt with the event logo.
• The treeing contest: winner will receive a new Kornerstone dog box, a leash, a t-shirt with the event logo.
• The drag race: winner will receive, a new Kornerstone dog box, a leash, a t-shirt with the event logo.
There will be many drawings throughout the day for all youth registered for the Youth Fun Day as well as lots of opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. We are excited to have you come be a part of this great event.
Following the end of the Youth Fun Day will be the PKC Mississippi State Youth Championship which has a 6:00 pm deadline.
This hunt has no prior earnings required and is open to all age eligible, full-time students from any state.
The youth program provides a format that allows two age groups for the first round:
PRE-TEEN (AGES 12 AND UNDER) PKC members under the age of thirteen (13) as of October first of the current year that are full time students. *Note: Youth hunters in the Pre-Teen category must have a parent or guardian accompany them when competing in PKC events.
TEEN (AGES 13 -17) PKC members reaching the age of thirteen (13), but under the age of eighteen (18) and have not yet graduated from High School as of October 1st of the current competition year that are full time students. The current competition year began 10/01/2021 and will end 09/30/2022.
The final four for the State Championship may be a combined group of pre-teen and teen youngsters.
Awards for the Mississippi State Youth Championship will consist of:
• Each cast winner will earn $100 and be qualified for PKC Youth world Championship, a $50 gift certificate, new dog leash.
• Each youngster reaching the final four of the championship will receive a new Kornerstone dog box, $100, qualification for PKC Youth World Championship, a $50 gift certificate, new dog leash, a new coon squaller, a new t-shirt with the event logo
• The Mississippi State Championship winner will earn all awards mentioned above as well as earn the Championship title, qualification for the PKC National Championship for the following year, a new Championship jacket along with a cash award of $250 from PKC.
Please remember once a youth hunter has earned the title of any state youth championship, they become ineligible to compete in any remaining state youth championships for the respective year.
More Great News for the Mississippi State Youth Championship hunters:
ALL youth hunters that enter the PKC Mississippi State Youth Championship on Saturday night, will be entered for two special drawings!
1) A Deer hunt of a life time at 2 Brothers Whitetails in Loranger, Louisiana, along with a Free mount for the deer provided by Iti Tashka Taxidermy.
2) A new Tika 6.5 Creedmoor Hawke, Amazing rifle and Scope also donated by 2 Brothers Whitetails.
