What a World Youth Final Cast

This was one heck of a nice hunt of hounds and handlers. Double D came back this year and he didn't pass up his second chance. Lady stayed off to herself and kept him on his paws. Ann was tough at the start but some minus had her playing catch up in a true coon treeing contest. It was a very wonderful hunt thanks to our guide and the boys were under the guidance of youth veteran mentor Steve Combs. Congrats to all and the Maynes should be very proud.

Amy, thanks for a great play by play and all the work you put into the youth program. Cody's mom and little sister watched the play by play from KY. We are so proud of Cody and his great accomplishments.

Amy, thanks for all you are doing and have done for this youth program. I read your article in the mags each month to keep up with the youth program and the youth you feature each month. 13 yr. old grandson got a $60 CW 2 weeks ago and is planning on coming next year already.

It was my honor to be out with those three young men and their good hounds. Doing a play by play on a hunt like that one was what coon hunting is all about - a coon treeing contest. The boys didn't try to out handle each other - they just called their dogs right and things all played out where the best dog on that hunt won.

Each and every dog there though was of awesome quality and it was fast paced from the moment they released. Double D looked amazing, Lady showed true independence and Ann worked hard herself and had the squeeze going in the start. Each dog showed us the fur though and that is what makes it fun for the young (like Cody, Jake and Kody) and old (like Steve and me).

Ron I hope to meet your upcoming hunter at one of the hunts and definitely at the World Youth next year! Keep me updated!

I had the pleasure of judging Friday night. These four young men handled themelves better in the woods than alot of the grown ups I have judged in the past. It was a honor to judge such young men as I had in my cast. They will be contenders in the major hunts in the near future.
