'09 World Championship
'09 Fall Super Stakes Championship
'09 Youth World Championship

Due to the ice storm that devastated the hunting in many areas of Western Kentucky, and after much discussion, debate, and consideration, the decision has been made to change the site of the 2009 PKC Fall Super Stakes Championship, Youth World Championship, and World Championship to Salem, Illinois.

Many of our members will agree with this change, while many others will not. I assure you that we have made this decision based exclusively on the best interest of PKC and its’ membership. The ice storm that hit Western Kentucky this past winter destroyed quite a bit of timber, and has made it extremely difficult to hunt much of the area. It is our feeling that continuing to remain in this area would cause extremely low attendance; the downed timber may cause unnecessary injury to handlers and dogs; among many other negatives.

To the clubs and hunters in Western Kentucky, as well as, the support groups that been a vital part of the successes of these events in the past, we say a heartfelt “THANK YOU”. Hopefully, all will understand the necessity for this move.

We will hold the 2009 Breeders’ Showcase in Aurora in July, and feel that we have made the necessary adjustments to allow those participating to hunt in the least damaged areas of Western Kentucky. We can’t promise anything, but feel that our efforts will benefit our members attending the Breeders’ Showcase, as we have added some Tennessee clubs that were not devastated by the ice storm.

We have met with each group in the Salem, IL area regarding their role in hosting the PKC World Championships. Each group from the Salem Economic Development Commission, the Marion County Fair Board, the Illinois Conservation Department, and the Satellite Club Network have assured us that they will work tirelessly to make sure this event is successful. This will be a different setup to those accustomed to attending the World Hunt in Aurora; there will be some adjustments to be made. Renovations will have to be made to the facility at the fairgrounds, and we have been assured that those changes will be made before the beginning of the events.

We will try and keep everyone abreast of any changes that would affect our members in the months and weeks to come. We ask for everyone’s support and understanding during this transition period, and expect to provide the same quality events in Salem, Illinois in October that our members have grown accustomed to in Aurora.
