Discussions About Politics And Religion

Postby Jerry Moll » Wed Aug 15, 2012 3:20 pm

Generally speaking, most folks try to avoid discussing politics and religion with family and friends. Reason being, both topics are emotionally charged and the debating process does not normally change anyone’s mind anyway, so all you end up with is hurt feelings and bitterness. Discussions and debates of this sort tend to conclude the Thanksgiving or Christmas party much earlier than was expected.

The purpose of the PKC Message Forum is to cultivate the sport of Competition Coonhunting and Rabbit Hunting. To recognize winners and to promote PKC programs and events. It’s a meeting place for the PKC membership to talk dogs, hunting and training. Used as intended, this forum is a wonderful place to communicate with your fellow hunters and to catch up on the latest news within the PKC family. Sure, just about every day there are posts on the here that have nothing to hunting and that’s not a problem at all.

Unfortunately, as stated above, when religion and politics are discussed the result is predetermined. Eventually the subtle and not so subtle insults, putdowns and disrespect start to fly, it gets ugly and the post is deleted. This in turn makes the moderator out to be the demon in the process.

PKC is not saying you can’t talk about politics and religion on here. Go ahead, but please be polite and respectful of others in doing so. But, if you want to get into a hard core religious or political debate, this certainly is not the place for it and the post probably will not last very long. There are many blogs and forums on the web that are dedicated to discussing and debating religion and politics if that’s what you enjoy, I’m sure they would welcome your contribution.
