2016 Iowa State PKC Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:15 by Iowa State PKC President, Corey Tieskoetter. 35 members were present and thanked for their attendance.

Old business was discussed first. The topic of purchasing sweatshirts for the top ten was mentioned. Corey Tieskoetter asked if anyone had any comments on this. No replies were made. Sweatshirts will continue to be awarded to the top ten dogs of 2016.

The next topic of discussion was the state hunt location. Corey Tieskoetter noted he had some complaints on the way the location was now decided. He then mentioned the idea of switching the location to a rotation basis versus the current mode of the top 24 voting. A vote was taken and it was a unanimous decision to leave it as is. Corey Tieskoetter then noted that currently the top 24 vote as of the state standings on August 20th in order to notify PKC of the location by September 1. In prior conversation with PKC, it was agreed upon to notify them of the exact location after the fiscal year standings are final. All in attendance were in favor of this. Jack Bingham made mention of the top 32 voting since they are now able to hunt in state hunt. That motion passed. The format for selecting the state hunt location will now be as follows: The top 32 dogs in the state standings will be granted a vote to determine the state hunt location. The vote will take place in October after the standings are final for the year. In the event of a tie breaker, the state leader will have the deciding vote. All clubs interested in hosting, must contact the state president prior to October 1 of that year.

New business: The first topic of discussion was the lack of attendance we are currently experiencing at our events. It was decided a committee will be put together that will work directly on promoting the current hunts we have, and look into creating new hunts that may be of interest to hunters that currently don’t hunt in PKC. Anyone with interest in being a part of this committee should get in contact with the state president. One event that is currently being looked into is having a challenge type event between top winners in Iowa UKC hunts and Iowa PKC hunts. It was also decided this same committee will be in charge of generating ideas to raise money that will be used to promote Iowa PKC events. An account will be opened with the state president overseeing the funds going in and out of the account. A couple ideas mentioned to raise money were to have a raffle at the Iowa Coonhunters Banquet and place 10% of state hunt Calcutta total into the fund. The last topic of discussion was mention to start a Hall of Fame for past Iowa PKC dogs. The same committee will also be in charge of setting up criteria for dogs to be elected. Plans at this time were to award elected dogs with a plaque.

Meeting adjourned at 7:55

PKC Iowa State Association Minutes of Meeting - Troy, IA
April 14, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:25 pm by President Corey Tieskoetter.

The budget and pay out for the 2017 state hunt were reviewed with no questions. The balance was also given for the new account that has been created with money raised by members.

Corey Tieskoetter mentioned his hope is to use that account to provide added purse money for future state hunts. In the past donations have been given by clubs and individual members. If all goes as planned, clubs will not have to put up the added money anymore.

Feedback was given on the top ten coats that were purchased this year. All were very happy with the Carhartt coats they received. Plans are to purchase the same style of coat for this year’s top ten.
President Corey Tieskoetter asked if anyone had any new business to discuss. Nothing new was mentioned so meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm
