Redbone Breed Association

Postby Richard C Lambert » Wed May 16, 2018 9:10 am

Jared Hutcheson has agreed to be the new PKC Redbone Breed Association President. If you have any concerns, suggestions, or input on anything Redbone you.can contact him at 765-720-7707.
Does anyone have any ideas on where the Redbone Championship Hunt could be held next Spring. We need a location that would attract more of the dogs qualified and increase attendance.

Richard, the biggest turnout this hunt has had in the last ten years was two years ago in Robertsville Missouri.Last year it was held in Iowa which is coon heaven and we had 4 dogs, this year Boone was the only one to show. The money involved in the breed championship has to go up before you start getting participation from guys around the country.Good luck to Jared, hope he gets it rolling.

Shellburn Indiana ....the site of the spring Super Stakes would be a great choice. It's centrally located...well known to most PKC hunters and there are plenty of local guides.
I'm sure a breed days held there would see a large crowd for the open events...especially if there was added money.

Getting the open events to fill up at the hunt is the key to making money for the association. Fifty percent of the club fee for these events goes to the breed association. The money earned at this years breed event is what the breed association uses to pay out to the breed leader and breed hunt next year. This also makes hosting breed hunts unattractive to clubs.

I know other breed associations have had raffles to raise additional money for their breed championship. I am willing to help with whatever you come up with.

Thanks Royce, we discussed a raffle. We have done that in the past. And you are right about the clubs. You can't just pick a spot or location. You have to find a club willing to put it on. It is a lot of work for a club with little payback. The very first Breed Championship Hunt that I went to was at your club in Mississippi. And I think that you won with Ghost. :P
