Using garmins in a hunt should not be allowed?!!

Postby Daniel Spurlock » Wed Aug 15, 2018 11:53 am

Why is pkc allowing people to use garmins in a hunt? What took place the other night was -, a judge trees his dog a mile and half through huge winding hills in the rain after asking a a kid if he hears a dog. Kid says yes me and another guy can not hear at all, two to two vote judge says we have to go to him and can’t point where he is just looks on garmin and says by a creek. I question after walking a actual 1000 yards before ever hearing a dog! What can be done about this - cheating ?

You, and the other guy allowed it to happen. Did you write him up? Sounds like you failed to do your job as a responsible cast member. No offense, but this a very simple issue

So mr. brown you are saying the only option in this situation is to write the person up, even though it is a two to two vote him being the judge? We both questioned this.

If, you feel you’re being cheated, and so does a fellow cast member the answer is very simple. You, and fellow cast member withdraw, sign in the grey, and go to the truck. Write him up, and walk away.

DO NOT WALK TO THE DOG VIA GARMIN PERIOD. That’s my advice, and take it for what it is worth.

It happens way to often around me also. Everyone talks about the integrity in these hunts compared to others, but I see this kind of stuff often around home........

Just be glad it was an open event and only cost 30 and not a pro hunt or a big hunt with a non hunting judge because it happens in those events as well.

It would happen once to me, and that would be the end of it. I’d start my phone on video record, make him tell me on video that he could hear the dog, and that would be the end of it.. I can’t believe guys put up with this crap!

You obviously don't really understand how things happen in the real world. Record it on your phone and do what???? When they say they hear it, it's a done deal and you will walk misting hoping to have enough time to tree another one after you score the tree.

Like I said before, I will not walk to a mans dog that isn’t barking where the majority of the cast can hear the dog. I would also record the situation for the panel, and PKC as well. It would be posted for everyone to see, and I WILL NOT WALK TO THE DOG VIA GARMIN. Sign in the grey, and walk away. I’m not trying to stir you up or anything, but you guys are making this stuff way to complicated.

I don't see recording it on your phone having any value. With that being said both members signing in the grey it's a dead cast, which I agree with being the best option. At that point doesn't it go to a dissaplenary board? Two two vote judges call? What happens?
