Changes.
Nationals needs to start on Tuesday.
Tree Points need moved back to 100.
I had a great time at Nationals both competing, Judging, and covering the event. Congrats to the finalists, especially Jason and Chad. Trigger looked great amongst great dogs.

Re: Changes.
Never understood why this is the only hunt that’s set up and designed to be finished on Sunday. Also I agree 90 min cast suck in major events of any kind much less championship events. Face the facts though it’s either a take it or leave it the hunters don’t get a vote or choice in that matter.

Re: Changes.
Back in 1998, I was judging at the world hunt out of Dresden TN. One of the hunters on the first cast of the night/week, asked the cast about hunting an hour instead of the two hours. I can say for a FACT, that both rounds Monday-Thursday, that week in Dresden only hunted ONE hour cast’s! These are the cast’s that I witnessed myself, because I was judging them! The handler that suggested this one hour time frame for the cast is a , extremely well known handler and I think a Hall of Famer! He asked the other cast members and EVERYONE of them jumped on board!! Right wrong or indifferent, that’s exactly what happened!!!!! My self, I don’t run the hunts much anymore, and it really doesn’t matter to me! But I’m sick and tired of all the complaining about things that really don’t matter that much in the scheme of things! My opinion, we better enjoy a sport that many of us LOVE and enjoy doing, while we can!!! I don’t believe it is that far away, we might not be able to hunt as we currently do! Not that my opinion matters!!! Just saying!

Re: Changes.
I have hunted at the Nationals plenty over the years but surely don’t hunt in this hunt every year, so I don’t expect my opinion to carry much weight. Personally, I wish every major event ended on Sunday night. Nationals is the only hunt we have where a working man can hunt two or three qualifying nights and take that equal amount of days off. If you want to hunt Thursday and Friday you take two days off work and come home on Saturday if your beat. All the other majors if you hunt those same two or three nights and get beat your still using a vacation day at work just to drive home. That’s a vacation day that could be spent with family instead of driving down the road. And we’ve all heard it a million times. The common man keeps getting cut out of this sport. Let’s leave this one alone so the common man can still have one small win of sort. I also like the fact that those that make the final cast get a full day to soak up the lime light. These big hunts should give the final cast a day to walk around proud. It’s part of the week long build up. It allows for interviews, conversations amongst friends on who’s gonna win, dogs to rest, and handlers to reflect on how far they’ve made it. With the final cast of the world and SS being held in a late round Saturday night half the coon hunting world doesn’t even know who’s in the finals until they wake up Sunday morning and it’s already over. To me that takes a little something away from the excitement. Let’s put more prestige back into these hunts instead of rushing to get them over with hence taking away from the finale.

Re: Changes.
I see no reason to go back 100 tree points!
Nothing is more frustrating than being leash locked especially on a 90 minute cast.
2 hour cast are needed with the leash lock rule in place!
JMO and thankful to get to hunt no matter how they are structured!

Re: Changes.
:Josh I would like to hear your reason for going back to 100 tree points instead of the current 125. I've wanted to see the 125 tree points for as long as I can remember. For the life of me I could never understood why these barking dogs were awarded the same points as the dog that treed the coon I love a good strike dog but they're far and few between. About every big hunt I watch live those barkers leave barking and usually someone jumps on that 100 strike under the minute. Alot of dogs today run that mouth until they hit a legitimate track and tree it Just curious on your reasoning.

That same dog now has 225 instead of 200.
It has had zero effect on the dogs that win. The only thing it does is take away a dog that backs. And none of these dogs back.
The only thing the 125 rule did was make the scores higher, and make it more difficult for dummy's like me to tally them

Re: Changes.
You give up 225 to a barker and it’s pretty hard to overcome
