Most members may not understand the tremendous undertaking involved in putting over 450 casts in the woods over the ten-day period at the annual PKC Youth World and World Championships. Acquiring the needed early & late round guides for these major events is getting much more difficult each year and the clubs believe that they could recruit more guides if the casts were ninety (90) minutes. Some of the regular guides are getting older and many others have to be at work early the next morning.
This day and age, all hunters and clubs are challenged with the reality of declining guide availability and continually diminishing hunting ground access, which seems to be shrinking more on a daily basis. Similar to the decision made several years ago to utilize hunting judges in the early rounds of the Super Stakes and World Hunt, we were very reluctant about this change. However, after several discussions with the Host Club and the PKC Executive Committee, we realized that it is a change that must be made. With this being said, all casts at the upcoming Fall Super Stakes Championships, World Championship, and National Championship will be ninety (90) minute casts. Hunting time for the Freshman Baby Stakes and the Youth World Championship will remain one (1) hour as always.
