I have a question after looking over the results each night. Im serious and im not trying to sound smarta.. but why do guys make it this far and then wd during there round? Is it usually because they are behind and know they cant win the cast and are just getting out of the way or is it something else? I just think if i had qualified for the world and had the expense of entry and motel and meals etc etc, I would atleast want to make it thru my round even if I was behind. on the other hand, is it just being respectful of the dogs and handlers that are still capable of winning that cast. like to hear some opinions please..thanks

Most do because they can't catch up or don't want the world to see their scores. Usually being a good sport and getting out of the way of those who still have a chance

Kermit you must be a UKC hunter, no reason to continue if you can't win. Why would I or anyone want to interfere with a guy and his dog that are far superior that night. Just shake his hand and congratulation him get out of his way. Much more professional hints the name. UKC hunters act like its a car wash, I payed for 2hrs I'm going too hunt for 2 hrs stealing strike points, tree points when they can't even win just a - mentality.
A true professional knows when he is out dogged, and they with draw and try a different day.
Just my 2 cents

Lol.. I just laugh when I hear you just be a ukc hunter.. that's always the reason why someone asks a question.
Y'all trip me out with that answer. Registry doesn't have a thing to do with a question..

Could it be because they treed off game? Getting out of they way should of be the last thing anyone is worried about. A dog should do what it's going to do reguardless

Their dog fought or showed enough aggression to get scratched and they withdraw with the cast approval lol!

Many scenarios can take place, but trying to save their hound for the next night is always a consideration.. if you have to tree two coons to catch up and dogs are spread all over the country, then a lot will withdraw.. just to regroup for next night..

I went up Thursday night and withdrew. Great cast.

I had 125 on a coon a gyp had 300 on two another had 125 on a coon.

22 minutes left mile from truck and I needed to score two and other gyp not do anything. Stick fork in me I am done

If you are there for the experience there is nothing wrong with competing the entire cast. But, after you have been there done that enough I think most know when it’s time to throw in the towel. No need to fight a losing battle

Prepare yourself and your hound. Hunt the dog, read the Blue Book, and your Good Book!

mike grooms i belong to pkc and ukc both.. i was just asking a question trying to hear some opinions. has nothing to do with where i hunt or what i hunt. i had just noticed alot of WD and was wondering if it were because some cant stand to loose or if it were the gentlemen thing to do and get out of the way if you know you cant catch up. im all for good sportsmenship and treating people like you want to be treated. it was just a question i was wondering about. i do appreciate all the opinions expressed.

I know on a few of my cast there would only be like 15 or so min left and dogs split treed a long ways apart . If the dog had a coon to win the others would withdrawal and go get their dogs.. no need to score em...
