2016 PKC Youth World Show Championship Judges

Postby Jerry Moll » Mon Oct 17, 2016 9:05 am

The time has come to take a moment to introduce you to our three bench show judges for this year’s PKC World Youth Championship Show. PKC enjoys having three people to make the decision of which Teen and Pre-Teen will walk away with the World Championship. We would like thank Chris Waller, Denise Geffs, and Stephanie Frank for the amazing job that they have done in the past for us. We would also like to thank Paul Frederick for returning again and welcome Terry Murry and Adena Jones-Fussnecker onto the panel.

Paul Frederick

Paul Frederick is a member of the Flora Coon Club and is involved in several of the English hound associations. He has been involved with coon dogs for most of his life. Paul got his start with the sport through his father and grandfather. Now Paul and his wife Janell have added another generation of coon hunters to the Frederick family with their two sons Drew and Grant.

Paul has been around Black and Tans, Plotts, Walkers, and now enjoys the English breed. With his father being President of the Flora Coon Club, it was very natural for Paul to get involved with the competition side of coon hunting. Not only has Paul been a competition hunter, but he has been a bench show judge for around five years now, and has been a Master of Hounds for many major events for several of the breed associations.

PKC has been blessed to have him serve as one of our PKC Youth World Bench Show judges since the event began in 2014. Paul has a great depth of knowledge when it comes to the different coon hound breeds and that is very important for the task at hand. Paul has also stressed the importance of getting youth involved in the sport and he has definitely done his part to make that happen by serving on the three person panel to crown the PKC World Bench Show Champion!

Adena Jones-Fussnecker

Adena has the honor of being the handler of the first UKC World Show Champion Leopard Hound W CH GR CH CCH Elburn’s Indigo. This was quite an accomplishment for her as the Leopard Hound is the newest of hounds recognized. In fact, it was our past judge Chris Waller who helped make that historical moment happen in 2015.

Adena has been showing hounds for over a decade now and became interested in the sport after attending some bigger events and watching other handlers work their magic. She has said in the past that she likes working with kids and teaching them how to set up their dogs and what a judge looks for. Now she will be in an official capacity as she does that.

Not only does Adena appreciate the conformation of a good hound, but she appreciates their ability in the woods. Adena not only shows hounds, but she hunts them also. She knows a complete package when she sees one. She has enjoyed sharing her love of coon hounds with her other half Jason and her sons Alex and Kolby.

We are very fortunate to have Adena coming and serving on our panel. She is an experienced handler who also has the knowledge of many of the breeds out there. Adena also knows what it feels like to win a World Championship Bench Show and she will be playing a part in making that come true for the PKC youth participating in the World Bench Show this Saturday!

Terry Murry

Terry is the President of the Sesser Coon Club. His involvement with the sport is very similar to Paul’s. Terry’s father Bill was very active in the Illinois State Coon Hunters. While Terry was working in the mines, he was unable to be as involved in the helping out as Master of Hounds as he is now. When he retired and his father passed away, Terry stepped up to the plate to help out. Now he is helping out again by being our third judge for the PKC Youth World Bench Show.

Terry’s involvement with competition hounds involves winning his first coon hunt when he was thirteen years old. He later went on to hunt dogs for several people including his father, Bob Crease, Henry Self, and James Merchant. He has also shown dogs since his teens and remembered winning his class and breed at Autumn Oaks when it was still held in Greencastle, Indiana. Terry has been a bench show judge with AKC/ACHA when they were still affiliated, has his AKC card, and recently received his UKC card.

Terry and his wife Mary Jo have five children between them, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Terry also has an eight year old granddaughter who is enjoying the coon hounds with him and would go coon hunting with him any chance that she got.

We would like to thank Terry for all he does to help out events. His dedication is greatly appreciated and his long history with coon hounds will be important when it comes to crowning a new PKC World Bench Show Champion!
